Treatment of back problems in Hanover
Back pain can be caused by problems in the area of the oral and maxillofacial system.
We are specialists in orthodontics and indirectly relieve the back and spinal muscles, because back problems are very often associated with dysfunctions in the oral and maxillofacial system. Ideal orthopaedic conditions, especially in the area of the temporomandibular joints, are not a matter of course! These ideal conditions are often nullified or not even achieved in the first place:
– congenital malformations of the teeth and jaws – tooth decay, tooth loss and many other factors. – Accidents involving the jaw and face
Malfunctions of the temporomandibular joints initially cause little or no pain.
It often takes years for real symptoms to develop. For this reason, painless cracking or rubbing in the temporomandibular joint should always be examined and treated at an early stage, as painless cracking or rubbing of the temporomandibular joints also indicates overloading of the structures. Early treatment can prevent the resulting health problems, such as radiating shoulder pain or discomfort in the cervical and lumbar spine. But even without these signs, your temporomandibular joints can be overloaded without you realizing it. Image: Possible complaints triggered by craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD)
Signs of overloading can often be seen in the shoulder and back muscles, which are indirectly involved in the chewing process.
In addition to the chewing muscles, this is more often the neck and shoulder muscles. The overloaded structures cause pain, which can sometimes be as intense as a migraine-like pain attack. Misalignments in the jaw always lead to a misalignment of the pelvis and spine. This so-called pelvic obliquity manifests itself in a functional difference in leg length, i.e. one leg appears longer when lying down. This difference in leg length is not caused by differences in the actual bone length of the legs, but by a muscular compensatory adjustment of the pelvic posture to a misalignment in the mouth and jaw area. Consequences of a misaligned jaw
As a result of the misalignment of the jaws and the associated leg length discrepancy, many cases develop, among other things
- Chronic back, neck and knee pain
- Shoulder-arm syndrome
- Sensory disturbances in the arms and hands
Treatment example of an improvement in spinal alignment after comprehensive orthodontic treatment
Case study: 17-year-old patient, improvement in spinal alignment after 18 months of comprehensive orthodontic treatment (left before, right after) scoliosometric examination. Please note: Due to the provisions of the Therapeutic Products Advertising Act on the subject of “comparative advertising”, we were instructed that the complete before and after photos of the case documentation shown may only be made available on request. In view of the general underestimation of these correlations in medicine, we would like to point out the decisive influence of the jaw organ on these complaints in many cases. Are there also body misalignments that have nothing to do with the jaw? Yes, of course there are. Among other things, malpositions of the feet and many other diseases come into consideration here. Therefore, our examination cannot replace a specialist examination when it comes to your back pain. We emphasize once again that we do not treat the back and spine directly, but the CMS (cranio-mandibular system).
