The BALANCE treatment concept – orthodontics in Hanover
Comprehensive – Holistic – Interdisciplinary
Orthodontics traditionally deals with the correction of jaw and teeth malocclusions as well as malfunctions of the masticatory system and jaw joints. The Balance treatment concept was first defined and published by us on this basis in 1995 and has been continuously developed in our joint orthodontic practice in Hanover ever since. It is a new orthodontic treatment method that combines the knowledge of dentistry and orthodontics with orthopaedics, general medicine and so-called complementary healing methods, such as applied kinesiology (AK), acupuncture, homeopathy and chiropractic, in an interdisciplinary way and thus practically complements the most modern orthodontic diagnosis and treatment methods.
Core statement of the Balance Concept
The most important new core statement of the balance treatment concept in Hanover is that important healing successes in peripheral systems, e.g. in the spine, pelvis, shoulders, endocrine systems (hormonal regulation) are often also possible through a symmetrical adjustment of the dental, oral and jaw system that is coordinated with the body posture systems and thus improved (see also menu item: Consultation). The goal of treatment is to adjust the teeth, jaws, muscles and temporomandibular joints so that they have only positive interactions with other parts of the body, especially the nervous system. This can be a valuable prophylactic measure for personal general health and performance optimization. In principle, this is possible at any age, but has special significance for the treatment of children and adolescents. In the Balance treatment concept, we answer the following questions, among others, individually as part of a comprehensive examination in our practice in Hanover:
The goal is not just to be symptom-free, but to achieve the highest possible level of robust health maximum total body performance. This is synonymous with good resilience of the functional circuits to external influences, which are difficult to change. See also the orthodontic consultation.
Invisible treatment devices
Thanks to the so-called lingual technique (“brackets on the inside of the teeth”) or removable transparent aligners(“Invisalign® system”), we are able to treat even more complex problems in patients of all ages almost invisibly and often even faster than with a visible treatment option and achieve a lasting improvement in aesthetics and function. The aesthetic improvement and the appearance of the teeth change when braces are applied from the inside, for example, already during therapy, so that patients experience a significant harmonization of the dental arch shape very early and quickly.
Treatment: materials and duration
Examination and selection of compatible treatment materials using Applied Kinesiology methods (if necessary), e.g: High-quality metal bonding by laser welding, gold plating, differentiated choice of luting resins, etc. Selection through individual testing of biological treatment materials (thermoelastic archwires and springs, ”intelligent” self-ligating bracket design, etc.) for more comfort, less discomfort, fewer demands on patient cooperation, increased hygiene and, as a result, a shorter overall treatment time. Use of metal-free retainers at the end of treatment for long-term preservation of the treatment result.
Preservation of all permanent teeth
Preservation of all permanent teeth and avoidance of tooth extraction for orthodontic reasons, in the vast majority of cases, through the selection of modern, biologically effective minimally invasive treatment devices and the choice of a sufficiently early start of treatment.
Graphic visualization of the treatment plan with the help of video imaging
The desired treatment result can be visualized by computer simulation before treatment begins, if desired.
Better
Long-term stability
Better long-term stability through the harmonization of aesthetic and functional aspects as well as consistent overcorrection of the necessary tooth movements, which have a strong tendency to reset. Improved biocompatibility of preservation measures, e.g. through the use of our patented metal-free Balance Retainer.
50% reduced exposure to X-rays
50% reduced X-ray exposure due to modern digital technology.
Three-dimensional X-ray technology (DVT)
We use modern three-dimensional X-ray technology (DVT) to examine teeth that have undergone root canal treatment, diseased temporomandibular joints and to assess the position of displaced teeth in order to make a more precise diagnosis and thus improve treatment .
Custom made positioner
Posture-oriented fine adjustment and stabilization of the treatment result through the use of a custom-made positioner.
Balance Retainer®
Better result stability and comfortable retention of the treatment result through the use of fixed Balance-Retainer® in the maxilla and mandible. The Balance-Retainer® is a patented device developed by us to maintain the achieved tooth position while taking into account aspects of the whole body. You receive a one-year warranty on the safe functioning of this retainer developed and patented by us. The conventional simple retainer usually triggers dysfunction in the cervical spine (C-spine) and reactively in the lumbar spine (LS) due to its rigid wire construction. In addition, this retainer regularly causes disruption of the craniosacral system (locking stress), which often results in headaches. The Balance-Retainer® differs from the conventional retainer in that it is not rigid, but flexible and dynamic. This ensures that normal cervical and lumbar spine function is maintained. At the same time, undesirable neurological side effects such as headaches and paresthesias (sensory disturbances) of the hands or feet are avoided while safely maintaining the orthodontic treatment result.
Wisdom teeth
We examine the chances and risks of the possibilities of preservation and regular setting of wisdom teeth from a holistic point of view and inform you in detail about our assessment. No wisdom tooth should be removed routinely, but as a result of a confirmed indication according to the balance treatment concept.
Craniosacral system
Favorable influence on the craniosacral system through symmetrical design and normalization of the stress conditions in the oral cavity as far as individually possible, thereby improving general health and performance.
Spine imaging and posture analysis
Graphical spine imaging and posture analysis without X-rays: Raster stereography is a three-dimensional examination of the spine using an optical scan of the back surface. This enables us to localize the problem areas of the body posture without X-rays and to document the course of treatment.
Posture improvement
by incorporating the information from the posture analysis with Applied Kinesiology, and if necessary stabilometry as well as raster stereography (see above) into the orthodontic treatment with the aim of achieving a better harmony between esthetic and functional treatment goals.
Our Team – Our Experience
Our team of doctors in Hanover has decades of experience in orthodontic treatment. Through continuous education and training in the fields of orthodontics as well as kinesiology, we combine this experience with the latest findings of scientific research to achieve a high level of treatment quality, for which we have already received several awards (e.g. independent Focus Ärzteliste). Our orthodontic assistants in Hannover have a high level of knowledge and skills due to at least years sometimes even decades of individual training and continuing education in a stable team. Every single one of them is motivated not only to bring your treatment to a perfect result but also to make it a beautiful experience. This is also documented by our ratings on google or other platforms.
Process quality – treatment time
We use Applied Kinesiology to check the resulting effects of our braces treatments on the spinal muscles and the craniosacral system after each treatment step. During your treatment appointment, we take an above-average amount of time for our patients and explain the individual treatment planning and each treatment step in detail. This is also documented by our ratings on Google or other platforms. At the same time, the above techniques enable us to reduce the active treatment time with fixed treatment appliances.
Interdisciplinary collaboration
Through close interdisciplinary supra-regional cooperation with our dental colleagues, orthopedists, chiropractors, osteopaths and manual therapists, we integrate knowledge and possibilities of other professional groups into the orthodontic treatment of our patients. In addition, Mrs. A.J. Entrup (osteopath, alternative practitioner, physiotherapist) offers professional osteopathic treatments and nutritional counseling to solve complex systemic dysfunctions accompanying orthodontic therapy in our practice.
