Digital volume tomography (DVT) makes many things clearer
In our orthodontic practice Dres. W. & J. Entrup and Dr. T. Altvater in Hanover, we attach great importance to advanced and gentle diagnostic procedures. We therefore use modern three-dimensional X-ray technology (DVT) to examine teeth that have undergone root canal treatment in connection with CMD disorders, diseased temporomandibular joints and to assess the position of displaced teeth in order to make a more accurate diagnosis and thus improve treatment. This technique involves less radiation exposure than computed tomography (CT) while at the same time providing a high resolution for determining the three-dimensional positional relationships of the jaws.

Three-dimensional diagnostic documents such as digital dental models, two- and three-dimensional X-ray images can be measured individually for each patient using special software and can also be used later for the manufacture of treatment devices. We attach great importance to the fact that both the analysis and the production of the appliances are carried out in our practice in order to achieve the greatest possible precision and reproducibility of our treatment results and to be able to respond individually to the special needs of different patients.

In some cases it is necessary to capture and record the temporomandibular joint trajectories in three dimensions. Optoelectrical measurement technology enables non-contact measurement, which is very convenient for the patient.
Intraoral scans – dental models without an impression
With the help of so-called intraoral scanning procedures, impressions with silicone or alginate can be avoided in many cases. This uncomplicated procedure produces a very precise virtual three-dimensional jaw model which is then available for planning various treatment appliances (e.g. lingual technique, Invisalign©, etc.).
