Chronic headaches
Chronic headaches can have serious consequences; for example, uncontrolled use of painkillers can indirectly cause considerable kidney damage. In around 30 percent of all patients requiring dialysis, which causes costs of around 300 million euros per year, the kidney damage is due to chronic painkiller use. Some typical migraine medications are suspected of being effective at first, but later causing migraines themselves after prolonged use. We don’t have a panacea for chronic headaches or migraines either. However, we would like to emphasize that the importance of the jaw organ in the development of headaches and migraines is extremely underestimated both in the medical profession and among laypeople.

A thorough examination is required to determine whether there are reasons to assume with some probability that the possible cause could lie in the jaw organ. Only these forms of headache, which can also occur with migraine-like symptoms, can be alleviated or disappear completely as part of therapy according to the Balance treatment concept. However, we would like to emphasize once again that we do not treat the headache directly, but the cranio-mandibular system (CMS). In many cases, the headache is caused by several factors simultaneously and additively, whereby the errors in the CMS are often decisive for the development of the pain. But other general medical dysfunctions must also be taken into account in order to be truly successful. This means that many specialists, such as chiropractors, osteopaths, nutritionists, naturopaths, etc., need to work together at the same time. This multidisciplinary teamwork is one of the keys to success. In the initial orthodontic examination, we will examine for you whether there is a justified chance of curing or alleviating your headache or migraine through orthodontic-functional therapeutic treatment according to the Balance treatment concept based on the test results at the CMS and our many years of experience. If there is any doubt about the at least partial causal relationship of the headache to the functional faults identified in the CMS, we will clearly inform you of this at the outset and refer you to suitable other specialists.
